Service Description

Learn about the materials, substrates, and methods of drawing. Drawing for beginners will teach you to record what you see onto paper with a variety of mediums. You CAN draw. All drawing materials provided. This class will be split into four monthly sessions - you can sign up for particular sessions only, or all four - it's up to you! Session 1 (January 14): Draw what you see, not what you know….. Drawing is about seeing. It is a skill that can be learned by anyone. What you do with it after you learn the skill, that is where the creativity we all covet comes in. This session will teach you how to make sense of what you see and how to put it down on paper. Session 2 (February 4): Sometimes there are tricks of the trade that help record an image of paper, sometimes you just wing it. Learn linear perspective and practice its application on simple geometric forms, and more complicated real life landscapes. Session 3 (March 4): Contrast in black and white and color can make or break a drawing. Most get stuck in a place where we use only five or six shades in the middle of a value scale. Let’s talk about that – black to white and all the shades of grey in between and how to achieve them in our drawings. Session 4 (April 1): To color or not to color, that is the question. Black and white or color? When to choose one or the other? And once I choose, what are my choices of mediums? Can I DRAW with paint, or is it then a painting? Let’s talk about it and practice. Instructor: Teri Moore Class size: must have 5 to run, maximum 12 participants Cost is $25 per session (includes a $10 non-refundable registration fee)
