THE ART OF CONVERSATION– round two – a condensed version. Sign up for one session or the entire series! $25 per session - most materials are provided. This class is a conversation about specific historical periods in art & a cursory introduction to a few artists who practiced the specific style. The world has been influenced by art & artists from the beginning of time. From setting trends to reactionary politics. Thinking about & discussing art makes us more aware of society as a whole. Because of the vastness of possibility, & considering information applicability and interest, I will focus, for now, on periods of time in recent years so that we may all feel a real connection to it. Session One (Wed., January 15, 5:30-7:30pm or until the conversation is complete) Let us begin with “Politics and Postmodernism” as our first topic. I will introduce thought & artwork for open discussion. Artists who practiced during the tumultuous time of the Vietnam war helped change almost every aspect of Western Culture. Minimal & process art was the way of the current with artists like Sigmar Polke, Jasper Johns & Robert Rauschenberg. Come discuss, make a little something that mimics the topic’s ideology & stretch your brains as well as let your creative juices flow.
