The Creative at Klondike is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization,
in collaboration with
St. Charles County Parks and Recreation.

About Us

Our mission at The Creative at Klondike is to build a culture of creative and inspired thought through art, processes and experiences. We long imagined a dedicated space in the Augusta, Missouri area for and by artists to convene, exhibit, teach and learn from each other. We also envisioned this space to be a community gathering place, where creativity and inspiration would thrive - where atmosphere and artistic socialization would foster creative experiences.

Galleries

The Quarry Gallery hosts our Gallery Gift Shop, offering works by local artists and artisans.

The Macler Gallery is our main gallery which hosts works by regional artists with an emphasis on showcasing renowned regional artists and supporting emerging regional artists.  It also hosts 2-3 curated exhibitions a year. These curated exhibitions are invitational and carefully selected for theme, selected focus, impact on culture, and audience.

The Overlook Gallery is on the second level, above the main Macler Gallery and can offer complementary works, or display limited works of emerging artists or studio specialties such as photography or fiber arts.

The Annex hosts smaller exhibitions, such as donated collections and student showcases following our Summer Art Camps.

Artist Studios

Three working artist studios are located on the upper balcony level. Kimberly Alsop, has a permanent studio that is her creative center, shaping the vision, concepts and design philosophy for arts center projects and installations. Two resident artists have working studios adjacently. These artists have creative space to produce their art, share and learn with fellow artists while at The Creative, and share with visitors during open studio hours.

Workshop Studios

Our workshop studios are an evolving project as we gain input from the community. We are previewing a Ceramics Studio, Fiber Studio, Jewelry/Metalsmithing Studio, and Printshop. In addition, we have classroom/workshop space for painting, drawing, and other visual arts.

Community Creative Gatherings

Fulfilling our mission as a community gathering place, we offer monthly "Third Thursday" gatherings for members of the community to come together to socialize, create, and learn.  Participants may choose to bring their own projects or take part in a low-cost introductory class in a variety of creative media.

Art & Nature Workshops

Because The Creative is a collaboration with St. Charles County Parks, there is space set aside for workshops and presentations from both groups. The large open space is available for art programs, ranger demonstrations and collaborative efforts between the two.

Our location within a 250-acre county park along the Missouri River and river bluffs provides the perfect backdrop for open air classes and art & nature courses.

Have you ever wondered about this beautiful St Charles County park called Klondike? Come see our new history wall in the Quarry Gallery, just inside the front entrance. Bravo to Bill and Chris Schaul, who knocked it out of the park with a ton of hard work and research!
Be sure to check out the display of glass items actually made with Klondike silica!
