About
This is a two-day class suitable for all skill levels. Participants will learn the ropes of soldering and using a jeweler's torch and will craft a ring. Bring a friend and ignite your passion for metal-smithing. In this workshop you will learn torch safety, materials and best practice, soldering basics, layering texture and finally some simple stone setting if there is interest.
Class Max/Min Attendance: Minimum 4; Max 8

Required Supplies:
Shand will provide:
- Variety of gauges of copper, brass, and nickel sheet and wire
- a small selection of sterling for each participant to have at least one silver ring
- hand tools, wire snips, pliers, dowels, hand saw, and hammers
- tools
- Acetylene torch
- Selection of stones available for purchase (very affordable)
Students provide:
- Sterling silver IF they are interested in that
- special hand tools they may have or prefer
- any personal magnifying glasses for small parts
- ear plugs if hammering bothers
- imagery drawn or collected to draw inspiration from
- safety glasses
- dust mask
