Service Description
THE ART OF CONVERSATION– round two – a condensed version. Sign up for one session or the entire series! $25 per session - most materials are provided. This is the full course. This class is a conversation about specific historical periods in art & a cursory introduction to a few artists who practiced the specific style. The world has been influenced by art & artists from the beginning of time. From setting trends to reactionary politics. Thinking about & discussing art makes us more aware of society as a whole. Because of the vastness of possibility, & considering information applicability and interest, I will focus, for now, on periods of time in recent years so that we may all feel a real connection to it. (Note: for more information about each session please see the descriptions under the individual session offerings.) Session One (Wed., January 15, 5:30-7:30pm) “Politics and Postmodernism” with artists like Sigmar Polke, Jasper Johns & Robert Rauschenberg. Session Two (Wed., February 5, 5:30–7:30) “Pluralism” with women artists such as Faith Ringold, Audrey Flack and Judy Chicago joining the ranks of Romare Bearden, Duane Hanson & Chuck Close. Session Three (Wed., March 5, 5:30-7:30pm) The 1970s with artists like Alice Aycock, the later work of Philip Guston, & lesser-recognized painters like Jorg Immendorff. Session Four (Wed., April 2, 5:30-7:30pm) The 1980’s with Anselem Kiefer, Jennifer Bartlett, Susan Rothenberg & Elizabeth Murray.
