Open Press Sessions
We're very excited about this new venture at The Creative, highlighting our donated manual printing press and developing Print Shop.
We are currently planning these sessions on the First Thursdays of each month from 6-8pm. Mark your calendars!
We'll be exploring the large variety of printmaking processes available to us now that we have this press. Most of these sessions will consist of demonstrations, with some possibility of hands-on activities down the line.

Let Miguel tell you more...
Session 2: Simple Relief
September 3rd 6-8pm
In our September "Open Press" session, we explore a variety of relief print processes that are possible using a single run of the press. The host will guide visitors through test prints using cardboard cutouts, linoleum blocks, a collagraph plate and a Lego matrix. A new feature of Open Press is "Print of the Month", a chance to study and discuss an artist's print selected from our archives.
Session 1: What is Printmaking?
August 6th 6-8pm
In our inaugural "Open Press" session, we introduced guests to the variety of printmaking media and processes that are possible using the new press. Miguel guided visitors through a simple monotype/relief project that explored the capabilities of color, texture, and expressiveness that they could achieve with this powerful creative tool. Along the way, visitors gained a clearer idea of the potential of printmaking.
