Service Description
Whether you’re using a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or even your phone, this fun and interactive three-hour workshop will help you take more thoughtful, compelling photographs. Rather than focusing on technical settings alone, we’ll explore what makes an image engaging and how small changes in composition, perspective, light, and timing can make a big difference. The class includes a blend of short lectures, group discussion, and hands-on practice. Together we’ll look at a variety of photographs and share our observations in a supportive, judgment-free environment, discovering that there are many ways to see the same image. We’ll also take a brief photo walk to put new ideas into practice, giving you the opportunity to experiment with what you’ve learned. Participants are invited to bring one of their own photographs to share with the group and explain why it's a favorite. If you feel comfortable with making yourself vulnerable, the next step is to allow the group to critique your photo. We’ll begin by identifying the strengths of each image before offering constructive suggestions for improvement, creating an encouraging atmosphere where everyone can learn. If no one chooses to share, the instructor will use examples from her own work to demonstrate the process. No prior photography experience is necessary. Just bring your own DSLR camera, iPad, or smartphone, your curiosity, and a willingness to build your photographic skills in your images and see the world a little differently.
